ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

page# 5

Wednesday, April 6, 1988

Roseville Properties/Midland Scientific request for a special use
permit for Chemical Storage and Distribution use at 2539 Patton
Road.

Presentation

Dahlgren summarized the existing and proposed location of this
use, and indicated that in accordance with the recent ordinance
amendment that a special use permit would be required.

Jopke summarized the staff actions that have been taken to insure
that the hazards at the existing location are minimized until the
relocation to the new site can be accomplished. Maschka asked
what kind of hazardous chemicals were present on the site. Jopke
responded that he was not familiar with all the chemicals on the
site but that there were chemicals which met the definition of
hazardous chemicals developed by the Federal Government.

Stokes questioned what the drainage situation of a site was, and
what impact chemical spills might have. Jopke responded that he
was not familiar with this aspect.

Tom McCormick from Midland Scientific, Inc. pointed out that the
hazards of the chemicals on the site were minimal and that there
were only small amounts of hazardous chemicals present. Maschka
questioned whether there was any repackaging of chemicals
occurring on the site. McCormick indicated that only repackaging
of non-hazardous chemicals was occurring.

Goedeke asked if fire walls would be provided between uses.
McCormick responded that they would.

Johnson closed the public hearing.

DeBenedet moved, Stokes seconded that the special use permit for
a chemical storage and distribution use at 2539 Patton Road be
approved with the condition that all of the appropriate,
applicable regulations and life safety codes and building codes
be complied with.

Nays:

DeBenedet, Berry, Goedeke,
Maschka, Moeller, Johnson
None

Stokes,

Roll Call:

Ayes:

Planninq File 1829

Arthur Schuster/Richard Webb request for an amendment to the
Comprehensive Plan from low density to high density residential,
rezoning to R-1 to R-3A, special use permit, and variance to
parking set back, number of parking stalls, and density
requirements.
