ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

page# 8

Wednesday, September 7, 1988

Jopke informed the commission that Mr. Casci, had requested that
this item be continued for 1 month to allow them to answer the
remaining questions by the Rice Creek Water Management
organization and by City staff.

Berry moved and Maschka seconded to continue this matter until
October 5, 1988.

Roll Call:

Ayes:

DeBenedet, Berry, Goedeke,
Maschka, Moeller, Johnson

stokes,

Nays:
Planninq File 1878

None

Roseville Dodge/William Wheeler request for sign variances at
2755 Long Lake Road.

Presentation

Dahlgren summarized location and history of signs on that site
and on the other properties in the area.

Wheeler testified that the sign is manufactured by the Chrysler
Corporation and is only available in two sizes, the size they
have now, and the sign being proposed. Wheeler added that the
small existing sign puts him at a competitive disadvantage with
other car dealers in the area.

Maschka asked if the sign would be internally lit.
responded that it would.

Wheeler

Goedeke asked if the proposed sign height would be consistent
with other signs in the area. Wheeler replied that the sign
height would be consistent with the others including Kline Volvo
and the Oldsmobile dealer.

Berry asked if the applicant would be requesting additional pylon
signs in the future. Wheeler responded that he did not
anticipate the need for other signage.

Berry asked what the height of the Union 76 sign was a Partridge
Road and County Road C-2. Dahlgren replied that it was
approximately 40 ft. Dahlgren added that the height of the sign
is consistent with others in the area and that the size of the
sign is 16 sq. ft. larger than the others in the area but that
might not be a significant difference.
