ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

page#17

Wednesday, October 12, 1988

Goedeke pointed out that the sign would be smaller than the sign
for Joe Sensor's Restaurant on the adjacent property.

DeBenedet pointed out that he voted for that variance because the
sign company made a mistake and it would have been a hardship to
tear the sign down.

Berry stated that she had a concern because this area was a major
entrance into the City from Minneapolis.

Moeller stated that it was not unreasonable to have signs of this
size in this location on the freeway and that it doesn't affect
single family dwellings.

Johnson agreed that homes in the area are screened from this
sign.

Dahlgren pointed out that Long Cadillac is zoned B-3 which allows
larger signs than the B-1B which this sign is in. Dahlgren
stated that this sign appeared to be in scale with the area.

Stokes asked how this sign compares with the one at Holiday Inn.

Dahlgren stated that the Holiday Inn sign is 200 sq. ft. in area
and 100 ft. high and is the highest pylon sign in the city.

Roll Call:

Ayes:

Berry, Goedeke, Stokes, Maschka,
Moeller, Johnson

Nays:

DeBenedet

John Alexis asked for clarification on the billiard center item
and what the process for renewal would be. Johnson replied that
they would have to apply and go through the process again.

Alexis stated that this process seemed cumbersome. Stokes
replied that the applicant can apply for a longer term after one
year and that the city would do its best to expedite the process.

Planninq File 1900

Frank Rekuski request for setback variance and shoreline building
permit at 1225 Josephine Road.

Presentation

Dahlgren summarized the location and history of the site.
