ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

page#11

Wednesday, March 1, 1989

Johnson called the Commission members attention to a memo that
was passed out from Police Chief James Zelinsky outlining
general security recommendations for parking ramps.

Stokes moved and DeBenedet seconded to pass along the Planning
Commission's concerns about parking ramp safety and the general
guidelines from the Police Chief. The consensus of the
Commission was that natural surveillance design alone is not
sufficient.

Goedeke pointed out that the Commission is not making any
specific recommendations, just listing the four general areas of
concern outlined in the Police Chief's memo.

Johnson stated that this is a beginning point to work from in
future considerations of parking ramps.

Berry pointed out that parking lots and ramps are not safe places
and that this is a crucial issue.

Stokes asked if the Planning commission can have input into the
design of parking ramps. Johnson replied that the input will
happen at the City Council meeting.

DeBenedet stated that the intent of the motion is for the Police
Chief to review individual proposals. Johnson replied that Chief
Zelinsky was willing to discuss this matter in more detail.

Roll Call:

Ayes:

DeBenedet, Berry,
Moeller, Johnson

Goedeke,

Stokes,

Nays:

None

Johnson reminded the Commission of the retreat scheduled for
April 12 at 6:00 p.m. and encouraged input from Commissioners on
issues that should be discussed.

Johnson announced that this was Commission Moeller's last meeting
and recognized him for his eight years of service on the
Commission and gave him best wishes for the future.

Adiournment

-

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:50
p.m.
