<br />ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />Pagef16 <br /> <br />Wednesday, November 1, 1989 <br /> <br />David Rasche stated that the material is troweled on like stucco <br />and is not constructed in panels. <br /> <br />Ronald Malnar stated that it is an integral color material and <br />not painted. Malnar added that it is a very hard material and <br />that there are similar materials in the Dayton's stores in st. <br />Cloud, Lacrosse and Southdale. smith added that it would have a <br />rich quality appearance. <br /> <br />Johnson questioned why the canopy was <br />over the bridge to the parking ramp. <br />expensive and they felt there would <br />quality design at the entrance. <br /> <br />not provided all the way <br />smith replied that is <br />be better impact using <br /> <br />Stokes questioned the location of light standards on the site. <br />Malnar replied that they would be provided by Centre Companies <br />as part of the overall development plan. Malnar stated that they <br />had been working with Centre Companies and they are comfortable <br />wi th the overall plan. Smi th pointed out that there would be <br />lighting of trees and lighting at the entrances to the building. <br /> <br />Goedeke stated a concern about ice on the bridges. Stokes stated <br />that in his opinion it would be a handsome, elegant building but <br />that the material doesn't ring of quality. smith replied that <br />the material give them the ability to sculpt forms and shapes and <br />that it is a very hard material and not flimsy. Malnar stated <br />that there would concrete block backing to the material and that <br />it was a material developed in Germany and used on many public <br />buildings. Malnar added that it is not a cheap product and is <br />better than stucco because it does not require control joints. <br /> <br />DeBenedet testified that this is a major facility which needs <br />excessive handicap accessible entrances. DeBenedet stated the <br />need for automatic door which handicap persons can operate. <br />smith replied that the proposed doors comply with regulations and <br />curb cuts are provided to provide access to them. Malnar stated <br />that Dayton's has provided handicap fitting rooms and a fully <br />accessible store. <br /> <br />Johnson asked if any automatic doors would be provided. Malnar <br />stated that none have been planned but that the building is fully <br />accessible and that there would be a wide open door from the <br />mall. <br /> <br />DeBenedet stated that code is not adequate and that the existing <br />Dayton's store is not accessible in all areas. <br /> <br />Berry testified that any door that has to be opened can't be <br />opened by somebody in a wheelchair.
