Alladin's would be open <br />during the same hours as the mall. Mr. Maples noted that Alladin's Castle may <br />also operate after hours for birthday parties with the approval of the mall <br />operators. Maples explained that Allaclin's has a game selection which is family <br />oriented but also has video games for other customers. It is brightly lit and wide <br />open space. 30% of all the games are for family and children, with prize <br />redemptions. <br /> <br />Member Harms asked for clarification regarding the setback from residential <br />areas. City Planner Falk explained that Lava Links did not meet the definition <br />of a gameroom in which 1500 linear feet is required. A special use permit and <br />a license is required for a gameroom such as Alladin's Castle. Member Harms <br />asked the number of games that would be within the facility. Maples responded <br />99 games. <br /> <br />No Citizens Appeared <br /> <br />Chairperson VVietecki closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />MOTION 1 : Harms moved and Sandstrom seconded a motion to recommend <br />approval of the special use permit for Alladin's Castle to operate a gameroom <br />with 99 games located at 1705 VV. Highway 36 (Rosedale Center). <br /> <br />Chairperson Wietecki asked the Council to reconsider the Lava Links proposal. <br /> <br />City Planner Falk responded that the City Council and Mayor will be <br />reconsidering the Lava Links issue at a study meeting to be held on November <br />15, 1993. Member Harms stated that there are other children attraction <br />businesses within Roseville, such as the Discovery Zone. Harms asked the staff <br />to provide a summary of reasoning for the Council decision if it differs from the <br />Planning Commission recommendation. <br /> <br />A general discussion ensued regarding the precedent that may be set and <br />involved with the comparison to Lava Links. Member Rengel pointed out that <br />Lava Links had pool tables. <br />
