Chairman Wietecki indicated that these letters would be <br />made part of the official record. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion: Member Thomas moved, seconded by Member Roberts, to recommend denial <br />because the proposed beauty shop did not provide a proper land use transition between <br />low density residential use on the north side of the site in question and the commercial use <br />on the south side of the property, that the proposed expansion of the commercial uses <br />along Hamline would not be consistent with the Vista 2000 goals to not expand existing <br />commercial areas. <br /> <br />Member Rengel stated that it was a nice design, but it is located in the wrong spot. <br /> <br />Member Thomas indicated that she was trouble with the level of effort that has gone into <br />this proposal and that it should have been done as a sketch plan. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki stated that the proposal is not consistent with the Vista 2060 statement <br />not to expand existing commercial areas. <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Ayes: Rengel, Thomas, Wall, Harms, Roberts, Sandstrom, Wietecki. <br /> <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki polled the audience on which remaining items they were present for, and, <br />based on that moved the Comprehensive Plan forward on the Agenda. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan Public Hearing <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki opened up the Comprehensive Plan Hearing. <br /> <br />Scott Current, representing the Lake McCarrons Neighborhood Association questioned <br />the definition oflow density versus medium density, why medium density is being <br />proposed, pointed out existing traffic problems along Rice Street, and questioned the <br />condition and speed limits which would be present when County roads are turned back to <br />the city. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director, Rick Jopke, explained that low density is <br />zero to four units per acre and medium density is four to ten units per acre. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki explained that no recommendation has been made concerning Site 15- <br />
