City of Roseville
Planning Commission Minutes
July 12, 1995

Member Wall stated that the city should look at the risk/benefit and that the cul-de-sac
with an island in the middle seemed to be a good trade-off.

Chairman Wietecki indicated that the city is almost complete with the pavement
management program and questioned how many more cul-de-sacs would actually be
reconstructed.

Lon Aune stated that there is some more pavement management projects plus new cul-de-
sacs which would be effected.

Member Wall stated a preference for a 100 foot cul-de-sac with a landscape area in the
middle.

Chairman Wietecki indicated that the neighbors should decide on whether or not there is
landscaping in the cul-de-sac.

Member Sandstrom indicated that the landscaped cul-de-sac seemed to be a good design
for environmental and aesthetic reasons.

Member Rhody questioned the timing of the need for this ordinance. Lon Aune
responded that it is necessary for next year's PMP program.

MOTION: Chairman Wietecki moved and Member Sandstrom seconded to continue
consideration ofthis ordinance amendment until August 9, 1995, to allow
fire department input, cost information on landscaped versus standard cul-
de-sac, and cost benefit.

Ayes: Wall, Sandstrom, Rhody, Harms, Wietecki
Nays: None.

ROLL CALL:

Chairman Wietecki directed staff to request the city manager and the city council to refer
RFPs to the Planning Commission to provide advise on land use issues.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12:30 a.m.

23
