City of Roseville, a request to amend Section <br />1012.10(A) of the City Code (Private and Commercial Antennas and <br />Towers) to include the placement of communication antennas on <br />existing public utility structures and towers as a permitted use. <br />Chairperson Keith Wietecki opened the hearing and asked Kim Lee to provide <br />an overview of the proposed ordinance to allow antennas to be placed on public <br />and utility transmission towers. <br />Staff recommended approval with the following language: <br />“Exception: Antennas attached to, but not above, the exterior walls of <br />buildings as an integral part of the architecture shall be a <br />permitted use in all B Business and I Industrial Districts. <br />Antennas attached to existing public utility structures and <br />existing public utility towers, including electrical transmission <br />towers and other structures deemed appropriate by the <br />Director of Community Development, shall be a permitted <br />use in all zoning districts.” <br />Member James Mulder stated this is a good solution for double use of existing <br />towers without having to add new towers in the community. A general <br />discussion ensued. <br />No additional comments were offered. The hearing was closed. <br />Motion: <br />Member Harms moved, seconded by Member Mulder, to recommend <br />approval of amendment to Section 1012.10(A) in accordance with the staff <br />recommendation dated December 10, 1997. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />8. <br />a)Chairperson Keith Wietecki noted that openings will be available on the <br />Planning Commission in Spring 1998. <br />b)The Home and Garden Fair was announced for February 28, 1998. <br />c)Member John Rhody suggested a housing appearance and preservation <br />standards study be undertaken by the Planning Commission. Members <br />Katy Harms, James Mulder, Douglas Wilkie and Keith Wietecki all agreed <br />with Member Rhody. <br />8 <br />
