Chairperson Keith Wietecki opened the hearing. Dennis Welsch provideda
background report.
Chairperson Wietecki stated that pedestrian details and access are real
problems.
Member Harms reviewed the sign details. Is there a way to make uniform sign
lettering.
Member Rhody expressed concern over the monument signage and the design
of the north metro building.
Tim Prinsen explained the Northfield “small town prototype”. The new building
prottype has more color and brick flexibility which could be carried through to the
base of signs and shopping center pillars.
Chairperson Wietecki suggested that this renovation may follow some of the
architecture in the other adjoining centers.
Member Mulder asked if there was a way to move the Taco Bell to the western
frontage of the site. Prinsen noted that some review had been done but noted
that parking, site layout, traffic all dictate a corner location.
Member Mulder asked if the Fast Bank in the parking lot will remain (yes).
Member Harms asked about the Shopping Center in Eden Prairie at Hwy 169.
Tim Prinsen asked how all the details will be incorporated. Member Mulder
asked for details of the hours of operation (9am to 2am). The drive-through will
be the only portion of the site open. Fina’s hours did fluctuate.
Member Rhody noted there would be little traffic from the south for after-bar
hours.
Member Wilke preferred the site plan presented by Taco Bell. Meleah Acousta,
architect for Taco Bell, noted that the cars will be lower than the Lexington
Avenue sidewalk.
Chairperson Wietecki noted that the site plan is improved, the architecture and
entrance to Roseville need work.
Chairman Wietecki noted that signage that fits with the “Avenue of Flowers” look
is advisable. Lexington is the main parkway entry to Roseville.
Motion:
Member Harms moved, seconded by Member Wietecki, to continue
7
