DRAFT <br />JOINT INFORMAL MEETING <br />OF <br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL and PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Wednesday, March 11, 1998 <br />Present:Mayor/Council: <br /> Mayor Dan Wall, City Council Members Donn Wiski, <br />John Goedeke, Dean Maschka, Barb Mastel <br />Planning Commission Members <br />: Chair Keith Wietecki, Katie Harms, <br />John Rhody, Ed Cunningham, Douglas Wilke, John Thein <br />Staff <br />: Steve Sarkozy, Kim Lee, Jay Kennedy, Dennis Welsch <br />1.Selection of Chair: Selection to be made by City Council on March 23, 1998: <br />Interviews/Selection of two new members on March 26, 1998. <br />Mayor Wall thanked Keith Wietecki for his service of nine years on the Planning <br />Commission. <br />2.Chair Keith Wietecki’s comments: <br />? <br />Beware of creeping commercialism <br />? <br />Focus on housing preservation <br />? <br />Maintain the neighborhoods, young families and seniors <br />? <br />Communication should be a strength <br />? <br />Planning Commission reviews cases based on merit;send projects <br />through staff to reach compromise; the Commission receives good staff <br />support <br />? <br />Planning Commission should identify issues and take the heat off Council <br />? <br />Change may create some turmoil and should be expected. <br />2.Donn Wiski noted the importance of the decisions (and importance placed on <br />Planning Commission meeting and decisions) <br />3.John Goedeke: Appreciates better staff reports with more thorough comments <br />1 <br />
