Storage is <br />done within the garage while all cars set outside. <br />Member Klausing asked about the size of the two structures. <br />Richard Morgan, 2524 Mapleton, asked if vehicles should be stored inside. <br />There being no further questions, Chair Harms closed the hearing. <br />Member Rhody asked what the hardship for this variance might be. He found <br />the variance hardship is the two-family dwelling. He would grant the variance as <br />requested. <br />Member Olson stated the design of the house precludes an attached garage, yet <br />there needs to be parking space for the duplex. <br />Member Wilke agreed with the hardship reasoning. <br />Member Mulder suggested a hardship for the cars (two per dwelling). The <br />proposed garage is as large as the house and thus may not meet the design of <br />the neighborhood. <br />Chair Harms stated she would not support this variance. <br />Motion: <br /> Member Rhody moved, Member Wilke seconded to approve the request <br />for a variance to allow the construction of a second accessory building <br />and a variance to increase the lot coverage to 76.5% of the required rear yard <br />for the purpose of contructing a 28' x 36' detached garage at 1042-2044 Dale <br />Street North. <br />Ayes: 4, Cunningham, Olson, Wilke, Rhody <br />Nays: 3, Mulder, Harms, Klausing <br />Motion carries 4-3. <br />Dorothy Ohnsorg, Maple Lane, asked for clarification regarding a proposal for a rental <br />apartment along Old Highway Eight.
