Motion: Member Cunningham moved, seconded by Member Wilke, to recommend approval of the request by Robert
Reichenbach for a variance from Section 1 004.01A6 and 1004.01 E of the City Code, based on the comments and
findings in Section 3 of the project report dated August 8, 2001, to allow construction of a 10 by 39 foot (363 square foot)
kitchen and covered porch addition at 1858 Hamline Avenue, subject to the provision of a property survey prior to the City
Council meeting of August 27 in order to validate lot coverage, impervious area and setbacks for Planning File 3334.

Member Mulder asked if the motion should be separated because of lot coverage issues created by the applicant in a
previous variance. The drive is not a hardship.

Member Olson concurred with Member Mulder. They oppose the variance request.

Member Duncan explained that Roseville is attempting to entice more homeowner investment and space, adding value to
the neighborhood.

Member Wilke asked if the 30% lot coverage issue creates a problem (Deb Bloom said this one increase will not create a
problem in the watershed).

Ayes: Wilke, Cunningham, Duncan, Rhody, Traynor

Nays: Olson, Mulder

Motion carried. 5-2

7.
