<br />Roseville Public Works and Transportation Commission <br />Meeting minutes <br /> <br />Thursday, August 22, 2002, at 6:30 p.m. <br />City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Roseville, Minnesota 55113 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1.Introductions/Roll Call: <br />Commission members: Todd Anderson, Mihai Marasteanu, Joseph Rossini, Ernest Willenbring, <br />Doug Wilke <br />Staff: Duane Schwartz, Frank Gaillard, Deb Bloom <br />Members of the Public: Mayor John Kysylyczyn <br /> <br /> <br />2.Public Comments <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />3.Review of Ordinance No. 1260, Chapter 205 Establishing a Public Works and Transportation <br />Commission <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn opened the discussion with an overview of the Council’s intent for the formation <br />of the commission. Schwartz read the ordinance and asked for comments <br />Wilke commented that the ordinance pretty much left it up to the commission to decide where they <br />wanted to go and what they wanted to be. Mayor Kysylyczyn explained that it was a “two way <br />street” the council would rely on the commission’s recommendations, and would respond to any <br />requests from the commission. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson <br />Anderson nominated Wilke for Chairperson, Rossini seconded, motion adopted (5/0) <br />Rossini nominated Anderson for Vice Chair, Wilke seconded, motion adopted (5/0) <br /> <br /> <br />5.Meeting Schedule <br />The consensus of the Commission was that they would meet monthly. <br />There was some discussion about evaluating the need for meetings on a month by month basis. <br />Rossini mentioned being flexible if a special meeting needed to be called on an important issue. <br />Kysylyczyn commented that a standing date and time would work, and a meeting can be cancelled <br />if the commission determines one is not necessary. <br />th <br />Schwartz suggested the 4 Thursday of the month. Marasteanu suggested 7pm. <br />Wilke moved, Anderson seconded, motion adopted (5/0) <br /> <br /> <br />6.Discussion of Duties and Functions of the Commission <br />The commission had a discussion about when staff would bring topics to them, what types of <br />topics, and how they would keep the Public informed. Mayor Kysylyczyn suggested press releases <br />to the local papers with the commission agendas the week before the meeting. There was some <br />interact with the Public. <br /> <br /> <br />7.Future Meeting Topics <br />? <br /> <br />Leaf Program- priority for September meeting <br />? <br /> <br />Solid Waste Executive Summary- Could the commission have an update on the Washington <br />and Ramsey County solid waste study? Maybe invite Jeff Travis to present and answer <br />questions. <br /> <br />
