<br /> Member Wilke said his concern is that the water level isn’t deep enough <br />for canoes to use. Schwartz said that the water level is more stable now <br />than it has been in previous years. There has been talk about dredging a <br />canoe channel. <br /> <br /> Member Wilke wondered if there were enough people who would use it to <br />make the channel worthwhile. Member Willenbring thought there would <br />be since kayaking and canoeing is so popular right now. He said we need <br />to be planning for the future and not be shortsighted—have grand ideas. <br /> <br /> Member Rossini pointed out that the idea behind this is for water <br />clarification. Schwartz agreed that was one of the major components. <br /> <br /> Member Wilke said he thinks that since S Owasso Blvd is such a busy <br />street, it should be straight and not be too curvy. <br /> <br />7. “Emerging Technologies in Asphalt Pavements,” Presentation by Commission <br />member Mihai Marasteanu, University of Minnesota <br /> <br /> Member Marasteanu gave his presentation on new technologies being <br />utilized in European countries. <br /> <br /> <br />8.Maintenance Impacts Due to Budget Reduction <br /> <br /> Duane Schwartz filled the Commission in on recent decisions made by the <br />City Council that affect Public Works. One position will be cut, and the <br />impact to the department was discussed. <br /> <br /> <br />9.Other Items <br /> <br /> Member Rossini said he’s gotten several phone calls about ridges of snow <br />left in peoples’ driveways. He asked if there was something that could be <br />done about it.
