Roseville Public Works and Transportation Commission

Agenda Item

Date: November 21,2002

Item No: 6

Item Description: LED Signal Change-out Program

At the request ofMr. Wilke, staff has added review ofa proposed LED change-out program for
all signal lamps on which the City of Roseville pays power costs. All maintenance on City
signals is performed by Ramsey County or Mn/DOT through negotiated agreements. Ramsey
County has put together a spreadsheet of City signals with a cost estimate of the changeover to
LED lamps and associated rebates from Excel Energy. Ramsey County has stated that they
would be willing to perform the installation at no charge to the City if the City provides the
lamps. Energy savings would pay for the up front costs of this program in approximately the first
four years. The City would have to budget for a change-out program of this magnitude.

Recommended Action:

A motion recommending the City budget for replacement of signal lamps to LED lamps.

Move:

Second:

Ayes:

Nays:
