<br /> <br />2:35PM <br /> <br />NO. 575 <br /> <br />P.2/8 <br /> <br />\1 . \ <br />()vr!\,; V, \ Il <br /> <br />POLICY NO. 5.080 <br /> <br />STREET liGHTING <br /> <br />PURPOSE AND NEED FOR POLICY <br /> <br />The City must have a policy for the installation, operation, maintenance and funding of <br />street lighting in accordance with Ordinance No. 232. <br /> <br />The City as a whole shall be responsible for the costs of intersection streetlights, City <br />park streetlights and some arterial roadway street lighting. Individual property owners <br />are responsible for costs associated with continuous street lighting in accordance with this <br />policy. Attached Table 1 provides a summary of the finanoing/funding sources for <br />various street lighting costs within the City. <br /> <br />II. DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />The following definitions are provided to clarify terms used within this policy. <br /> <br />Term Definition <br /> <br />Commercial Street Lighting Streetlights installed within areas zoned as <br />anything other than residential. <br />Continuous Street Lighting Street lighting installed at locations other <br />than at intersections only. <br />Basic Level of Service Lighting The lowest cost street lighting type from <br />among the approved poles and fixtures. <br />Installation Costs All costs (labor, materials & administrative) <br />associated with the- furnishing and <br />installation of new streetlights. <br />Major Roadway Principal, A Minor, B Minor Arterial, or <br />other roadways as designated in the City's <br />Street Lighting Plan. <br />Operation & Maintenance (0 & M) Costs All cost to maintain and supply electricity to <br />streetlights. <br />Replacement Costs All costs (labor, materials & admi:oistrative) <br />associated With the in-kind replacement of <br />existing streetlights. <br />Residential Street Lighting Streetlights installed within areas zoned as <br />residential. <br />
