(L c. <br />- <br /> <br />FAX NO,-__6!26382044 <br /> <br />P I <br /> <br />.~. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO 01-032 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING STREET LIGHT POLICIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Each year the City of New Brighton receives several requests for the <br />installation of street lights, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The cost of operating street lights is a large budget item, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of New Brighton desires to maintain and <br />enhance the safety and security of the City through the provision of street lighting while <br />at the same time keep the tax burden of operating street lights at a minimum. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of New <br />Brighton that the following policies shall govern the installation of street lights in the City <br />of New Brighton. <br /> <br />1. All City street light installations must be approved by City Council resolution. <br /> <br />2. It shall be the policy of the City to install street lights at the following locations; <br />A At all street intersections. <br />B. On all cul.de-sacs in excess of 300 feet in length. <br />C. A minimum spacing of 660 feet along all skeletal system sidewalks, <br />bikeways, designated bike lanes, and bike routes. <br />D On vertical sags where headlight sight distance is less than the required <br />stopping distance for the road design speed. <br />E. Where unusual safety hazards exist which can be eliminated by a street <br />light, such as railroad grade crossings and pedestrian trail crossings. <br /> <br />3. The City shaJI install street lights at the followjng locations when petitioned for <br />by property owners. At a minimum the petition must include all properties facing <br />or bordering the requested street light. <br />A. Mid-block on alleys. <br />B. Mid-block on street blocks 1000 feet or greater in length. <br />C.
