The majority of the street <br />lights are owned and maintained by <br />Xcel Energy and leased to the City. <br />The ornamental streetlights on Old <br />Highway 8 NW in the Old Downtown <br />area and on Silver Lake Road south <br />of 1-6g4are owned by the City and <br />maintained by Xcel Energy. The City <br />budgets approximately $ 114, 000 <br />annually for street light operation and maintenance. <br /> <br /> <br />It is a poi icy of the City to install street lights at the following locations: <br /> <br />At all street intersections. <br /> <br />On all cul-de-sacs in excess of 300 feet in length. <br /> <br />A minimum spacing of 660 feet along ail skeletal system <br />sidewalks, bikeways, designated bike lanes, and bike routes. <br /> <br />On vertical sags where headlight sight distance is less than the <br />required stopping distance for the road design speed. <br /> <br />Where unusual safety hazards exist which can be eliminated by a <br />streetlight, such as railroad grade crossings and pedestrian trail <br />crossings. <br /> <br />The City will also install streetlights at the following locations when <br />petitioned for by property owners. <br /> <br />Mid-block on alleys. <br /> <br />Mid-block on street blocks 1000 reet or greater in length. <br /> <br />End of cul-de-sac streets less than 300 feet in length. <br /> <br />The petition must include all properties facing or bordering the requested <br />street light. <br /> <br />All City street light installations must be approved by City Council <br /> <br />http://www.ci.new-brighton.mn.uslindex.asp?Type=B BASIC&SEC= {97C2E918-1 F9D-", 05/16/2003 <br />
