Roseville Public Works and Transportation Commission

Agenda Item

Date: December 18, 2003

Item No: 5

Item Description: Review of draft City Streetlight Policy

Background:

At the November Public Works Transportation meeting, we presented the first draft of the City's
revised Streetlight Policy. We appreciate your comments and have incorporated them into this
second draft. Deleted text is strike thru. New text is underlined. Please review the attached
policy and bring any comments you may have to the meeting.

Commission members also asked if City Code had any specific sections addressing lighting on
public streets. At this time the City Code does not regulate lights within the right- of- way. It
does have a section that places conditions on parking lot lighting (1010.12). It states that
"Lighting levels at contiguous residential property lines shall not exceed one-half (1/2) foot-
candle. "

Recommended Action:

Feedback is requested from the Roseville Public Works and Transportation Commission
regarding the draft street light policy.
