City of Roseville - Planning Commission Minutes for October 5, 2005Page 10 of 11 <br />The applicant's representatives stated they agreed with the staff review and recommendations. <br />A general discussion ensued regarding the location of directional information on the proposed <br />signage. <br />Hearing no further public comment, Chair Traynor closed the public hearing. <br />Motion: Member Bakeman moved, second by Member Doherty to recommend approval of the <br />rezoning from I-1, Light Industrial to B-3, General Business District for property located at <br />2500 Cleveland Avenue, based on the comments of Section 4 and conditions of Section 5 of <br />the project report dated October 5, 2005. <br />Ayes: 7 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried: 7-0 <br />Motion: Member Bakeman moved, second by Doherty to recommend for property located at <br />2500 Cleveland Avenue, approval of the 2 variances (a 50 sq. ft. sign area variance to Section <br />1009.08E and a 5 foot height variance to Section 1009.08G of the Roseville City Code), based <br />on the findings in Section 6, of the project report dated October 5, 2005. <br />Ayes: 7 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried: 7-0 <br />6.Study and Discussion Issues <br />Roseville: Past, Present, Future - Part 2 of Comprehensive Planning with John Shardlow <br />Chair Mark Traynor introduced John Shardlow, consulting planner with DSU. He noted that this is the <br />second in a series of workshops regarding the review of the Comprehensive Plan. The hope is these <br />workshops will put the Planning Commission in a better position to complete the task in 2006 and 2007. <br />John Shardlow and Anne Taft presented the regional significance of Roseville in planning. Market forces <br />and regional transportation issues have helped for the development pattern in Roseville and the region. <br />Roseville developed as an inner ring suburb with accessible location and engaged citizenry. <br />A second presentation dealt with the public participation process which is used in comprehensive planning. <br />(A Power Point handout for each presentation will be prepared for the Commission and placed in the file.) <br />7.Information and Reports <br />a.Sign Code Update (Thomas Paschke): No report until November <br />b.Update on LEED programs with Twin Lakes developers <br />8.Adjournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:55 p.m. <br />http://www.ci.roseville.mn.us/council/planning/minutes/2005/pm051005.htm12/27/2005 <br /> <br />
