In this way, the Commission could discuss the broad issues and progress <br />toward the more detailed topics, rather than lingering on the details before agreeing on the <br />broader ideas. Member Roe will draft an illustration of how the document might be organized, and <br />staff member Lloyd will assist accordingly. <br />3.Outline of Metropolitan Council System Statement Issues <br />The system statement documents were included in the materials distributed to the Commission <br />Members prior to the Planning Commission meeting. Mr. Welsch brought attention to the system <br />statement materials, but there was no further relevant discussion. <br />4.Metropolitan Council Planning Handbooks--distribution <br />The planning handbook was included in the materials distributed to the Commission Members <br />prior to the Planning Commission meeting. Mr. Welsch brought attention to the document, but <br />there was no further discussion. <br />5.Time line for future discussions and decisions on Comp. Plan (Assumes Plan updates by <br />PC must be completed by December 2007 in order for CC approval and required 6 month <br />notice to adjoining communities, submission to Met Council no later than September 12, <br />2008 <br />The Gantt chart illustrating the timeline for the steps involved in the current Comprehensive Plan <br />update was previewed, and Mr. Welsch emphasized that 2006 is necessarily the year to begin in <br />earnest the process of visioning and formulating the goals and policies that will become the basis <br />for the update. The required completion date in September 2008 and the 6-month review period <br />prior to the September deadline make early action essential. The Commission Members agreed <br />that their review and consideration of the goals and policies of the current Plan prior to the <br />Council-led public visioning process would not be a wasted effort because it would allow them to <br />concerns. <br />7.Information and Reports -- Future Projects Report 2006 (Welsch) <br />A project report of major developments anticipated in 2006 and 2007 was included in the materials distributed <br />to the Commission Members prior to the Planning Commission meeting.
