6. Clean-up Day Report Presentation <br /> <br /> Tim Pratt, Recycling Coordinator, updated the Commission on the success <br />of Clean-up Day. He asked the Commission for their opinions on the <br />future of Clean-up Day. <br /> <br /> Chair Wilke said he thought it should be continued and that we should <br />probably stay with the same hauler since they have agreed to extend the <br />contract for two more years at the same cost. <br /> <br /> Member Willenbring moved that they suggest to the Council to extend the <br />contract for two more years with the current hauler. Chair Wilke <br />seconded. <br /> <br /> Member Shiely asked about the contract price and what the difference was <br />in the initial bids. Pratt said some charge based on weight and some <br />charge based on size and gave some examples of price differences. <br />Member Shiely said he thought we should charge residents more so that <br />the City’s portion would be less. <br /> <br /> Schwartz asked if they were voting on the motion, and Chair Wilke called <br />a vote. <br /> <br /> Ayes: 2 <br /> Nays: 0 <br /> Abstained: 1 <br /> Motion carried <br /> <br /> Member Willenbring complimented Duane Schwartz on the leaf recycling <br />area. He thinks it looks very neat and clean this year. <br /> <br /> <br />7.Seasonal Overnight Parking Ban <br /> <br /> Schwartz went over what had been discussed in previous meetings and <br />introduced new information. <br /> <br /> Member Shiely asked who determines a 2” snowfall. Schwartz said the <br />Streets Supervisor makes the call. Member Shiely asked how residents are <br />notified. Schwartz said we don’t declare a snow emergency. Residents <br />are informed in various ways of the city policy. Member Shiely said <br />Public Works has always done a phenomenal job of plowing the streets in <br />the 20-30 years he’s lived here. <br /> <br /> Member Shiely said the problem here is with people who don’t have off- <br />street parking, and that’s less than 2 or 3 percent of the population. Chair <br />Wilke said it’s a safety factor on some of the main streets in the City. <br />People leave their cars so the area doesn’t get plowed and pretty soon the <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
