5. Hearing on Additional Transit Shelter Sites Jason Barry from Transtop Minnesota gave a brief history of his company and also on the process of erecting new shelters. He said there has already been a good response from advertisers. He presented new shelter locations that he wants to get approved by the Commission. Member Willenbring asked how the recent Metro Bus route changes affected the original list of shelters. Mr. Barry said they lost three shelters because of that. Member Shiely said that he’s in favor of all the shelters that can be put up in Roseville. Chair Wilke opened the public hearing for comments. There were none, and the public hearing was closed. Member Shiely moved to approve the new shelter locations. Member Fischer seconded. Ayes: 4 Nays: 0 Motion carried 6.Operational Policy Discussion related to Storm Damage Cleanup Duane Schwartz spoke on the recent major storm that went through Roseville and presented information to the Commission on what current policy is on cleanup, which is if there is major damage over 25% or more of the city, city crews help with cleanup. Schwartz asked the Commission if they had any input. Chair Wilke said one thing that would help is if residents had a closer place to bring brush. He also said people don’t realize they can contact their garbage haulers to take some of this stuff. Member Wilke asked if the 25% damage assessment was just a judgment call. Schwartz said yes. Member Willenbring said that storms hit everyone and residents have to take their lumps just like the city. The city doesn’t need to subsidize cleanup. Chair Wilke said he didn’t think most people realized that if a tree goes down in their yard it’s their responsibility to clean it up. He said if the 25% rule has been working why try to reinvent the wheel. Page 2 of 7
