<br />Residents on Major Streets <br />Evidence shows that residents who live on major thoroughfares in the test areas were less likely to participate <br />in the recycling program. In this case major thoroughfares are the County roads that crisscross Roseville <br />such as Dale Street or County Road B-2. Generally these streets had considerable traffic. In some cases <br />homes appeared to be more isolated than homes on residential streets. <br /> <br />Peer pressure is a recognized factor contributing to participation in recycling programs. And if residents on <br />major thoroughfares in Roseville do indeed feel isolated from their neighbors it may contribute to their low <br />participation in the recycling program. <br /> <br />The overall participation rates were in the 80-90% range overall. On the major thoroughfares the <br />participation rate was 67%. And none of the tested methods showed mucll, if any, improvement in <br />participation rates. <br /> <br />It's not known if these residents do feel isolated, and <br />community life in Roseville.
