Blaine residents set out
more than 5,100 tons of recyclables at
the curb as part of the single-sort
recycling program last year. This is an
increase of more than 475 tons from
2004 levels and more than 1,742 tons
from 2003, the last year of the old tvvo-
sort recycling system.

The dramatic increase is due to both the growth in the number of homes in the city
and an increase in the amount of material that each home is setting out for
recycling with the single-sort program. Household averages have gone from 40
pounds per household per month with the old program to more than 56 pounds per
household with the single sort program In 2005.

Questions &: Comments
A to Z City Services Direct
\~) Agendas 8: Minutes
lJ.)
