Member DeBenedet said storm water protection is another issue to be
considered.

Member DeBenedet said he was concerned about whether the Public
Works Department feels they have adequate resources to maintain the
current infrastructure. Schwartz said we were in a good position regarding
pavement management, but in terms of utilities (water and sewer) we
could use more tools.

Member Willenbring asked ifPWET should get involved with invasive
plants or did that come under the Parks responsibility. Schwartz said there
is a natural resource plan for parks. Member Willenbring said he is very
concerned about buckthorn and the resulting erosion problems, and the
Council has to do something about it. Member Fischer said when there is
a question about which commission should handle an issue, the city
Council can make the determination.

Member Fischer questioned whether they should discuss with the Council
the process of communicating recommendations made by commissions
since a recent recommendation was not communicated accurately.

6. Update on Pedestrian Safety Subcommittee Meeting

Chair Wilke updated the Commission on what was discussed at the
meeting. Among other things, paddle signs will be used at various
crossings in the city and be moved around periodically to educate drivers.

7. Pesticide Discussion Follow-up

This topic was moved to the July agenda since Member Neprash was not
in attendance and had initially suggested the discussion.

8. July Agenda

Chair Wilke said he wouldn't be able to attend the July meeting. Member
Willenbring asked if the commission really needed to meet 12 times a
year. Duane Schwartz said it was the members call on whether they meet
or not.

Member DeBenedet asked what the process was for discussing the
comprehensive plan and if not meeting in July would affect it. Schwartz
said the system statement from the Met Council would be distributed and
comments would be collected from members and be submitted to the
Planning Commission. Chair Wilke said that as a commission, PWET
would be meeting with the Planning Commission sometime in October.

Page 3 of4
