Planning Commission Meeting
Minutes – Wednesday, March 07, 2007
Page 6

Mary Remmers, 3160 Ridgewood Road
Ms. Remmers expressed that she had not been aware of previous information
meetings held by the college staff with residents; and questioned why the parking
ramp was not relocated behind the Mel Johnson Media Center, off-campus.

Ms. Cary advised that that area was already used as off-campus parking.

James Anderson, 3004 Arona Street
Mr. Anderson questioned whether the college was planning to design the ramp so it
could be increased in height, and if they would request additional stories for the ramp
in the future.

Mr. Humphries advised that the college’s goal was to accommodate 500 vehicles on
two (2) levels and the building was designed accordingly; with no plans by the college
to seek additional stories.

Mr. Anderson expressed neighborhood frustration with rental of single-family homes
being overrun and rented to students, and the problem of excessive vehicles in yards.

Ms. Cary advised that the college didn’t own any single-family homes.

Marie Churchward, 3093 Asbury
Ms. Churchward had provided several written comments; and questioned whether
Building #23 could be moved closer to Lydia where the vehicles entered the campus;
and noted the problem with global warming, and impacts of noise to property values.
Ms. Churchward requested that the Commission continue to look at the project with
the neighborhood and its taxpayers in mind,

Timothy Callahan, 3062 Shorewood Lane
Mr. Callahan provided his interpretation of City Ordinance language and approval
processes from General Concept to Final Development Plans, opining and debating
that the actual dimensions of each building were required at this stage; differences in
building designs and locations among submitted site plans; presentation of storm
water and drainage plans; protection of vehicles on Lydia from errant balls from the
playing fields; athletic field netting, fencing and trees; and his interpretation of the
1986 PUD approval (i.e., number of tennis courts approved).

Mr. Stark; Mr. Paschke; and Ms. Bloom each attempted to clarify various components
of the process for Mr. Callahan, noting that this was not a Concept Plan, but an
amendment to an existing PUD, and was a different process than that referred to by
Mr. Callahan. College representatives responded to specific concerns of Mr. Callahan
as appropriate, and as detailed in other discussions among residents,
Commissioners, staff and the applicant.

Acting Chair Bakeman expressed the Commission’s appreciation to staff for their
extensive research and background notes from 1975 forward for approvals and
reviews of the college’s Master Plan.

Tam McGehee, 77 Mid oaks Lane
Ms. McGehee provided written comment in the form of a letter dated March 7, 2007,
attached hereto and made a part thereof.
