<br />II. <br /> <br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, March 11, 1986 <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was <br />at 7:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members present: <br /> <br />Bailey, Matts, Oberdorfer, Thomas and <br />Zielske. <br /> <br />called to order by Chairman Zielske <br /> <br />Members absent: <br /> <br />Mackey, McKenzie, Nackerud, and Wachter. <br /> <br />Others present: <br /> <br />Ron Moorse, staff. <br /> <br />III. Business <br /> <br />A. It was suggested that the Human Rights Department be <br />contacted to send the Commission the new No-Fault <br />Grievance Forms. <br /> <br />B. Zielske indicated the Roseville Baha'is have requested <br />they be allowed to present a Peace Statement to the <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Thomas suggested the Commission needs a policy to <br />provide parameters for the types of presentations the <br />Commission will approve. Bailey suggested that Thomas <br />write a draft of a policy setting out such parameters. <br /> <br />It was suggested that a copy of the rules of the <br />Roseville Human Rights Commission, dated April 10, <br />1974, be sent out to all Commission members for their <br />review in preparation for review of the policy to be <br />drafted by Thomas. <br /> <br />C. Zielske indicated the Commission has received a letter <br />from the State Human Rights Commissioner regarding her <br />concerns about cutbacks at the State Department, and <br />requesting a letter of support from the local Commissions. <br />Thomas suggested the Commission needs to review the <br />performance of the State Department prior to writing a <br />letter of support. <br /> <br />Matts indicated she was concerned that she does not <br />know the content of the legislative bill the Commissioner <br />is requesting the Commission to endorse. <br /> <br />Thomas suggested the Commissioners should contact the <br />legislators to indicate the Roseville Commission feels <br />the State Department should remain as a viable cabinet <br />level department. <br /> <br />D. Zielske discussed several pending no-fault grievances. <br />One involved discrimination in employment on the basis <br />of age. Another involved discrimination in employment <br />on the basis of sex. <br />
