<br />Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />March 11, 1986 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Zie1ske indicated he has been working on a grievance <br />related to race and employment. He has talked to both <br />the grievant and the respondent. They will be getting <br />together to try to work out a solution. <br /> <br />E. Oberdorfer indicated she has been unable to contact <br />the grievant concerning a no-fault grievance assigned <br />to her. It was discovered at the meeting that the <br />time limit for the no-fault grievance had expired. <br />Moorse was directed to send a letter to the grievant <br />indicating the time limit for local action has expired, <br />and indicating the grievant may now take the case to <br />the State Department. <br /> <br />F. Matts and Thomas agreed to work jointly on a no-fault <br />grievance. They will attempt to meet with the <br />grievant within a week. <br /> <br />G. Zielske indicated he is concerned regarding Martin <br />Luther King Day observances. He suggested public <br />education efforts regarding Human Rights concerns <br />should be carried out on Martin Luther King Day. <br /> <br />H. It was indicated that with the expiration of Zielske's <br />final term on the Commission, a new Chairperson needs <br />to be elected. It is very important that all <br />Commissioners attend the April meeting, so that a new <br />Chairperson can be elected. <br /> <br />I. Thomas reminded the Commission that Tom Custer, a <br />longtime leader in the Minnesota League of Human <br />Rights Commission, will be the guest speaker at the <br />April Commission meeting. <br /> <br />J. It was indicated that there will be three new <br />Commission members at the April meeting. All Commis- <br />sioners should be in attendance to welcome the new <br />members, as well as to bid farewell to Dan Zielske. <br /> <br />IV. Next Meetinq <br />The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 1986. <br />Because of the election of officers and the appearance by <br />Tom Custer, the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. It is <br />very important that all Commissioners make a special <br />effort to attend due to the several important items on the <br />agenda. <br /> <br />V. This shall serve as a formal invitation to Dan Zielske to <br />attend the Tuesday, April 8, Human Rights Commission meeting. <br />The Commission is looking forward to bidding you a proper <br />farewell and best wishes. <br /> <br />VI. Adjournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. <br />
