<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1989 <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was <br />7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />called to order by Chairman Bob King at <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members present: <br /> <br />Mary Litsheim, Edythe Nackerud, Bob King, <br />Stan Borden, Betchen Oberdorfer, and <br />Jacquelyn Lindberg. <br /> <br />Excused Absence: Vickie Wright. <br /> <br />Unexcused Absence: Thelma McKenzie, David Bailey, and Zoe <br />Jenkins. <br /> <br />Others present: Ron Moorse, staff. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Borden moved, Nackerud seconded, that the minutes of the <br />June 13, 1989 meeting be approved. <br /> <br />IV. Business <br />1. Grievances <br />King updated the Commission on a grievance related to <br />sex and employment being handled by McKenzie. <br /> <br />2. Commission Brochures <br />The Commission discussed the Commission Brochure and <br />the No Fault Grievance Brochure, and determined that <br />the brochures should be sent to the Public Library, the <br />Unemployment Office, to the schools, and to the Human <br />Resource departments of larger firms in the city. <br /> <br />3. Human Riqhts Award Update <br />The Commission discussed the two line drawings for a <br />logo to be used with the award. Several suggestions <br />were made. Moorse will work with the artist to come up <br />with a final logo drawing. <br /> <br />The notice of the Human Rights Award should be sent to <br />the Chamber of Commerce, the Superintendent of Schools, <br />and other community organizations. Moorse will check <br />the list of organizations that was used for sending out <br />the invitations to the reception for the new city <br />Manager. <br /> <br />The Commission set January 8, 1990 as a the deadline <br />for entries. Moorse will develop an application form <br />to be attached to the announcement regarding the award. <br />
