Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes October 10, 1989 Page 2 Oberdorfer indicated the state Commissioner of Human Rights or the Assistant Commissioner have indicated they would be available to present the Human Rights Award at a Council meeting. C. Martin Luther Kina Tribute McKenzie has Rosedale, Frank Wharton, and a high school musical group confirmed for the Martin Luther King Tribute. She asked for suggestions regarding a full choir. Mayor Rog suggested that students of various ethnic backgrounds be invited to attend the tribute in their native dress. Oberdorfer indicated the Children's Home Society has formed a Korean Choir. King will contact the united Gospel Choir regarding performing at the Tribute. D. Loqo Moorse updated the Commission on the progress of the new logo. E. LMHRC Annual Meetinq McKenzie provided a written summary of the annual meeting. F. School District Oberdorfer suggested the Commission needs to work more closely with the School District. The Mayor suggested sending a letter to both School Districts asking for a teacher to be a liaison to the Commission either through membership on the Commission or as an ex officio member. G. Inactive Membership on Commission Oberdorfer suggested that criteria for continuing membership on the Commission need to be developed to provide a guide for dealing with those members who have become inactive. Mayor Rog suggested the development of an inactive status for those who cannot regularly attend meetings, but who may be able to help out on projects from time to time. King indicated the Commission will discuss this issue at the next meeting. V. Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 1989, at 7:30 p.m. VI. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
