<br />Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes <br />October 10, 1989 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Oberdorfer indicated the state Commissioner of Human <br />Rights or the Assistant Commissioner have indicated <br />they would be available to present the Human Rights <br />Award at a Council meeting. <br /> <br />C. Martin Luther Kina Tribute <br />McKenzie has Rosedale, Frank Wharton, and a high school <br />musical group confirmed for the Martin Luther King <br />Tribute. She asked for suggestions regarding a full <br />choir. <br /> <br />Mayor Rog suggested that students of various ethnic <br />backgrounds be invited to attend the tribute in their <br />native dress. <br /> <br />Oberdorfer indicated the Children's Home Society has <br />formed a Korean Choir. <br /> <br />King will contact the united Gospel Choir regarding <br />performing at the Tribute. <br /> <br />D. Loqo <br />Moorse updated the Commission on the progress of the <br />new logo. <br /> <br />E. LMHRC Annual Meetinq <br />McKenzie provided a written summary of the annual meeting. <br /> <br />F. School District <br />Oberdorfer suggested the Commission needs to work more <br />closely with the School District. The Mayor suggested <br />sending a letter to both School Districts asking for a <br />teacher to be a liaison to the Commission either through <br />membership on the Commission or as an ex officio member. <br /> <br />G. Inactive Membership on Commission <br />Oberdorfer suggested that criteria for continuing <br />membership on the Commission need to be developed to <br />provide a guide for dealing with those members who have <br />become inactive. <br /> <br />Mayor Rog suggested the development of an inactive <br />status for those who cannot regularly attend meetings, <br />but who may be able to help out on projects from time <br />to time. <br /> <br />King indicated the Commission will discuss this issue <br />at the next meeting. <br /> <br />V. Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 1989, <br />at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />VI. Adjournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. <br />
