Roseville Human Rights Commission Minutes Tuesday, January 9, 1990 Page 2 Lindberg updated the Commission on her grievance. The grievant wants to be reimbursed for time out of work after termination. The respondent is considering the request. King summarized several complaints that have gone to the state level--two related to age and employment, one related to sex and employment, and the other related to racial harassment in the work place. Litsheim indicated it seems that one major employer in the city is involved with numerous age discrimination complaints. She suggested the Commission write a letter to the State Department expressing the Commis- sion's concern regarding the number of complaints. C. Martin Luther Kinq, Jr. Dav: King indicated all details of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Tribute have been taken care of. The tribute will be held at Rosedale on Monday, January 15. D. Human Riqhts Excellence Award: The date for submission of nominations has been changed to February 24. The Award presentation will be held at the March 12 Council meeting. Moorse listed the various efforts the city is making to publicize the Award process. Nackerud and Borden suggested that the Commission may, at some point, want to recognize Marie Slawik for her many contributions to human rights. E. Membership Oberdorfer has indicated she will resign from the Commission effective February, 1990, due to increased time commitments. Zoe Jenkins has also submitted her resignation, citing her inability to be as active on the Commission as she feels she should be. These resignations mean that there are now five posi- tions to be filled on the Human Rights Commission. V. Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 1990. VI.
