<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1991 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Deutsch at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />David Norrgard, stan Borden, Bob Bancroft, <br />Mary Litsheim, and Mary Helen Deutsch. <br /> <br />Excused Absences: <br /> <br />Jackie Lindberg and Mary Jean Turinia <br />Anderson. <br /> <br />Unexcused Absences: Karen Bondy and Vickie Wright. <br /> <br />Others Present: Thelma McKenzie, Roseville representative <br />to the League of Human Rights Commissions <br />and Wayne Groff, Chair of the Falcon <br />Heights Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Borden moved, Bancroft seconded, that the minutes of the October <br />8, 1991 meeting be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: Norrgard, Borden, <br />Bancroft, Litsheim, and Deutsch. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Business <br />A. Committee Reports <br />1. Multicultural Events <br />a) North Suburban Seminar on Bias Related Crime <br />The seminar will be held on Saturday, November 16, <br />1991, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Deutsch, Bancroft <br />and McKenzie will attend. The city of Roseville will <br />be billed for their share of the expense up to a <br />maximum of $50.00. <br /> <br />b) Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Event <br />The Commissioners shared ideas and resources for <br />this event. Litsheim, Anderson, and Bancroft will <br />meet and report back on this at the next Commission <br />meeting. <br /> <br />c) Exploration of Cooperative Efforts with Falcon <br />Heights <br />Information regarding the two Commissions (Falcon <br />Heights and Roseville) was exchanged. Mr. Groff <br />noted that the Falcon Heights Commission may be <br />interested in co-sponsoring the Asian Cultural <br />Event. <br /> <br />2. Essay Competition <br />Norrgard reported that approximately 250 essays have <br />been received. In addition to the cash awards from the <br />city, the top three essayists will also receive a plaque <br />from the Roseville Committee for the Bicentennial of the <br />Constitution. <br />
