HlJMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 1992 I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Deutsch at 7:30 p.m. Members Stan Borden, Norrgard, Mary Jackie Lindberg Laura Kushner Thelma McKenz None Bob Bancroft, David Jean Turinia Anderson, Mary Helen Deutsch Liaison II. others Present: Excused Absences: Unexcused Absence: III. Approval of Minutes Norrgard moved, Borden seconded that the minutes of the February II, 1992 meeting be approved. All ayes. IV~ Business A. ~ulticultural Events and Communications. 1) Fall Cultural Event. Rassdale: Kushner reported that the Rosedale contract still has not been received. She will follow up. Historical Society: Anderson reported that the Historical Society can lend an "Asian/Pacific Islander Minnesotans" photo exhibit and there is a small charge for transportation and set-up. The Asian/pacific Islander council is another resource for speakers and performers. Anderson also reported that "Women of Minnesota" posters and handbooks are available for the event. Family Violence Initiative: Norrgard reported that the Ramsey County Family Violence Initiative will have information about the effects of family violence that could be made available as part of the exhibit. Library: Bob Bancroft reported that Ann Fitch, head librarian will be glad to cooperate in any way that she can with the event. Other: It was decided that the entire Commission will work on the Fall Cultural Event. Various ideas for speakers were presented such as Russell Means and Bill Wilson. commission Chair Deutsch asked that each commissioner bring some ideas for names to the next meeting.
