<br />Roseville Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />November 10, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />He said it is very important for members of the Commission <br />and/or others to respond to the victim immediately and <br />not wait two or three days. It is also vital that someone <br />stays in touch with the victim. He talked of the <br />importance of a network of people, including the Commis- <br />sion, clergy, and residents, who are available to respond. <br /> <br />Larmore suggested the Human Rights Commission explore the <br />possibility of having an identification card which they <br />could use when they contact people involved in hate crimes <br />or other circumstances. <br /> <br />The Commission decided to continue to work on their plan <br />for response to bias/hate crimes at a subsequent meeting. <br /> <br />VI. Cable proiect <br />Deutsch reported that the cities of Roseville, New <br />Brighton, Shoreview, Arden Hills, and Falcon Heights have <br />prepared a video production on bias/hate crimes which was <br />shown on cable television on October 23 and November 2. <br /> <br />VII. Leaque of Human Riqhts Commission <br />Morton Ryweck provided the Commission with copies of the <br />League's new brochure. He also presented a handout con- <br />taining a "Personal Pledge" relating to the campaign <br />against hate and bigotry and to celebrate our diversity. <br /> <br />VIII. Commission Lonq-ranqe Planninq <br />Deutsch indicated that the January meeting of the Commis- <br />sion will be devoted to long-range planning. PLEASE <br />COMPLETE THE ENCLOSED PLANNING FORMS PRIOR TO ATTENDING <br />THE JANUARY MEETING. <br /> <br />IX. Grievances <br />Commission members reported on the October 24 training <br />session they had attended. <br /> <br />Deutsch presented a memorandum from the Minnesota Depart- <br />ment of Human Rights relating to No-Fault Grievance <br />claims. The memo seems to indicate that the Commission <br />will again be receiving no-fault grievance claims from the <br />Human Rights Department. <br /> <br />X. Other Business <br />Deutsch presented a photo from a recent newspaper that she <br />had received in the mail. The photo was of a Roseville <br />baseball team referred to as the Indians. There was an <br />anonymous note attached asking the Commission to do some- <br />thing about the use of "Indians" by sports teams. <br />
