HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MAY 11, 1993 <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Waite at <br />7:35 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Linda Larmore, Mary Jean Turinia <br />Anderson, Stan Borden, Thelma McKenzie, <br />Michael Trainor, Maria Reed, Kim Waite <br />Excused absences: Dave Norrgard, Jackie Kozak, Bob Bancroft <br />Others present: Sarah Bellefuil, Administrative Intern <br />III. Aooroval of Minutes <br />Trainor moved, Borden seconded, that the minutes of April 13, <br />1993 be approved. Roll Call: All ayes. <br />IV. No-Fault Grievance rroceaure rresenr.aLion <br />Anderson and Borden gave a 45 minute presentation on No-Fault <br />Grievances for the benefit of the group. <br />V. Cable Update <br />Waite attended the April 22, 1993 Cable Commission meeting. <br />She stated that only two people were present at the meeting. <br />The next Cable Commission meeting will be May 27, at 5:30 p.m. <br />VI. Update on Youth Commissioner <br />McKenzie questioned the reason the Commission wanted a youth <br />consultant. Anderson stated that it was to make the <br />Commission aware of concerns and conflicts that arise in area <br />high schools and to seek advice on issues concerning the <br />younger generation. <br />McKenzie thinks the Commission needs to write: <br />1) a press release, <br />2) an information sheet for anyone interested in the <br />position of youth consultant, <br />3) a time line for establishing a youth on the Commission. <br />Anderson moved, Borden seconded, that Waite attend the May 17 <br />City Council Work Session to propose the idea of a youth <br />consultant.
