HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, AVGUST 10, 1993 <br />I. <br />II <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Waite at <br />7:30 p.m. <br />Roll Call <br />Members present: Dave Norrgard, Mary Jean Turinia <br />Anderson, Marie Reed, Michael Trainor, <br />Kim Waite, Thelma McKenzie, Linda Larmore <br />Excused absences: Stan Borden, Jackie Kozak, Bob Bancroft <br />Others present: Pat Johnson, Barb Mastel, Sarah <br />Bellefuil <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Norrgard moved, Trainor seconded, that the minutes of June 8, <br />1993 be approved. Roll Call: All ayes. <br />IV. Cable Update <br />Waite stated that there is no update. <br />McKenzie suggested that the September 18, League of Minnesota <br />Human Rights Commission Annual Conference be videotaped. <br />V. Essav Contest Update <br />Norrgard will bring an outline to the September meeting <br />addressing what needs to be done for the 1993 Essay Contest. <br />Reed volunteered to help Norrgard read all the essays. <br />Norrgard stated that, besides the cash award and reception in <br />the Council Chambers, the City should provide plaques for the <br />winners. Mastel stated that she would donate plaques for the <br />contest winners. <br />VI. Multi-Cultural Event Update <br />McKenzie stated that she has been unable to contact Christine <br />Tonnelli of Rosedale to discuss the Multi-Cultural Event. She <br />stated that if she cannot get in touch with her by phone she <br />will set up an appointment to meet with her. McKenzie also <br />mentioned that the security and administrative staff at <br />Rosedale are new so they do not know what took place at the <br />1992 Multi-Cultural Event. <br />
