Problems that arose during the 1992 Multi-Cultural Event <br />included: <br />a) The space was too large, <br />b) the video didn't work, <br />c) some of the shop owners were unhappy about having the <br />event near their store. <br />McKenzie wanted to know if the Commission should contact the <br />same groups again by phone or by letter. Anderson stated that <br />the Commission should do both and that she was willing to <br />contact all the groups she contacted last year. <br />McKenzie suggested contacting the Rotary Club and Chamber of <br />Commerce to see if they would help sponsor the Multi-Cultural <br />Event. McKenzie also mentioned that last year the City issued <br />blanket insurance to cover the Event. <br />McKenzie suggested that the RHR Commission contact other <br />commissions to help plan and/or execute the Multi-Cultural <br />Event. Anderson stated that she will contact Shoreview and <br />McKenzie stated that she will contact Arden Hills and Falcon <br />Heights. Bellefuil will send out confirmation letters to the <br />above cites after they have been contacted by the Commission. <br />Anderson suggested that the RHR Commission contact Reflect <br />Respect to find out if they are interested in helping with the <br />event. Waite stated that the Commission should have a meeting <br />with other commissions to plan the event. Anderson questioned <br />whether the RHR Commission can get everything done by October. <br />Waite stated that the Commission should contact local <br />retailers to let them know what is going on. Anderson <br />suggested that the Commission contact Daytons since they were <br />so helpful last year. McKenzie stated that she would prepare <br />a flyer to be distributed to businesses effected by the Event. <br />VII. Bias Hate Crime <br />Trainor stated that he had not completed the Bias Hate Crime <br />package but will have the package completed for the September <br />meeting. Trainor also mentioned that he needs to discuss Bias <br />Hate Crime response with Tom Alleva and Jerry Ruettimann of <br />the Roseville Police Department. <br />VIII.Grievances <br />No grievances were reported during June or July. <br />IX. Other Business <br />McKenzie stated that the annual LMHRC meeting will be held <br />September 18, 1993 in Shoreview. The four topics to be <br />discussed at the meeting include: <br />a) Marketing Human Rights at a Community Level. <br />b) No-Fault Grievance Training. <br />c) How do Human Rights Commissions Reach Our Schools? <br />d) Helping Commissions Comply with ADA. <br />
