HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1993 <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Waite at <br />7:30 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Maria Reed, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, <br />Thelma McKenzie, Kim Waite <br />Excused absences: Dave Norrgard, Michael Trainor, Stan <br />Borden, Bob Bancroft, Beatriz Menanteau <br />Others present: Ken Hallberg, New Brigthton HR Commission <br />Laura Kushner, City of Roseville <br />Sarah Bellefuil, City of Roseville <br />III. Multi-Cultural Event Update <br />Waite opened discussion on the Multi-Cultural Event. Kushner <br />stated that in order for the Multi-Cultural Event to occur 4 - <br />5 members are needed for a subcommitte and 8 - 10 members are <br />needed to help the day of the event. <br />Waite gave a recap of lasts years event. She stated that last <br />year the Event occurred near Dayton's, that various groups <br />performed dances throughout the day, that there were exhibit <br />tables, and that the reception. was very good. McKenzie stated <br />that the 1994 Event will be essentially the same as the Event <br />held in 1992. McKenzie also stated that areas they would like <br />to improve upon in 1994 include: <br />a) Have an MC at the event. <br />b) Have each group perform more than once. <br />c) Have more commissioners near exhibit tables. <br />Kushner suggested that the Commission contact the school <br />district and ask children to do projects that can be displayed <br />at the event. <br />McKenzie stated that she would like to see one person from <br />each commission on the sub-committee. <br />The Commission asked that Bellefuil set up a special meeting <br />on Tuesday October 26, 1993 to discuss the Multi-Cultural <br />Event. Bellefuil will send a memo to Roseville Human Rights <br />Commissioners notifying them of the meeting. Waite will <br />
