<br />Human Riqhts Commission Minutes <br />March 8, 1994 <br /> <br />April 14 from 7 - 9 pm to discuss the statewide response <br />network for bias/hate crimes. Mike will not be able to <br />attend but hoped that maybe another Commission member could <br />attend. <br /> <br />The Commission also decided to write a letter to the victims <br />on McCarrons saying that they appreciated them contacting <br />the police, asking if there is anything the Commission could <br />do to prevent a recurrence, inviting them to contact the <br />Commission directly and sending a Commission brochure. Mike <br />will work with staff to get this letter out. <br /> <br />VII. <br /> <br />Grievance Update. No new grievances filed. <br /> <br />VIII. Cable Update. Mike Hermes will be taking classes at the <br />Cable Commission to learn how to use the equipment and <br />produce videotapes that can be run on cable. He also <br />contacted the City of Shoreview who will contact their <br />Commission to see if there was any interest. He also spoke <br />with Kim Waite, former Chair, and she said she would be <br />willing to help with cable productions. <br /> <br />Dave Norrgard said that he would be willing to contact a <br />friend of his who is a professional radio announcer to do <br />voice-overs for the Commission. <br /> <br />VIII. Other Business.Mike Trainor brought up the need to form a <br />subcommittee to work on the Essay Competition for 1994. <br />Jill Bergquist and Beatriz Menanteau are willing to work on <br />the subcommittee. Mike also expressed interest in having <br />Maria Reed work on this subcommittee since she worked on it <br />with Dave Norrgard for 1993. Some discussion was held <br />regarding expanding the contest to the high schools located <br />in the City of Roseville, 10th grade only. Staff will copy <br />and send the file to Jill and Beatriz. <br /> <br />Dave Norrgard stated that it was necessary to keep up with <br />the school personnel changes, make follow-up phone calls and <br />collect the essays when completed. <br /> <br />Mike Trainor and the rest of the Commission members gave <br />Dave Norrgard a round of applause and thanked him for his <br />time and support on the Commission. This is Dave's last <br />meeting as he is resigning at the end of his term which <br />expires 3/31/94. <br /> <br />IX. Next Meetinq. <br />Next meeting is Tuesday, April 12, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />VI. Adlournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. <br />
