<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1994 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Trainor <br />at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Jill Bergquist, <br />Bob Bancroft, stan Borden, Susan Forsyth, Thelma McKenzie, <br />Larissa Rippley, and Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Members absent: Mike Hermes and Maria Reed. <br /> <br />Others present: Steve North, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Larissa Rippley moved, Mary Jean Turinia <br />that the minutes of the September 13, <br />approved with the following amendment: <br /> <br />Anderson seconded, <br />1994, meeting be <br /> <br />VI. Essav Competition. First paragraph, third <br />sentence should read as follows: <br /> <br />"It was Jill's impression that Shoreview would <br />prefer to do the Middle School in a cooperative <br />venture with Roseville." <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br />Bias Hate Crimes <br />No report at this time. <br />Cable <br />No report at this time. <br /> <br />V. <br /> <br />VI. Essav Competition <br />Jill Bergquist presented possible questions for the Essay <br />Contest which were discussed by the Commission. <br /> <br />Thelma McKenzie moved, Larissa Rippley seconded, that the <br />question for the 1994 Essay Contest be as follows: <br /> <br />pick a provision or article in <br />Declaration of Human Rights, and <br />relation to an event currently in the <br />or international news. <br /> <br />the Universal <br />discuss it in <br />local, national, <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br />
