<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1994 <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was <br />at 8:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members present: <br /> <br />called to order by Commission Chair Trainor <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Jill Berg- <br />quist, Bob Bancroft, Stan Borden, Susan <br />Forsyth, Mike Hermes, Thelma McKenzie, <br />Larissa Rippley, Alex Schlief, and Mike <br />Trainor. <br /> <br />Members absent: <br /> <br />Maria Reed. <br /> <br />Others present: <br /> <br />Steve North, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Mike Hermes moved, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson seconded, <br />that the minutes of the October 11, 1994 meeting be <br />approved. Roll Call, Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias Hate Crimes <br />Mike Trainor indicated the Chamber of Commerce Executive <br />Board will be considering naming a person to be placed on <br />the Commission's response network. <br /> <br />V. Cable <br />Mike Hermes reported the tapi:.g of the "Soft Copy" segment <br />with the Human Rights Commission will be done on November <br />22 or 23. Jill Bergquist volunteered to represent the <br />Commission on the program. <br /> <br />VI. Essav Competition <br />Jill Bergquist indicated letters seeking essays have gone <br />out to schools. The essays are due on December I, 1994. <br /> <br />Mike Trainor and Stan Borden will pick up the essays from <br />the schools on December I, and deliver the essays to Jill. <br /> <br />The December 13 Commission meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. <br />to provide time for the selection of the essay winners. <br /> <br />VII. Student Consultant <br />Mike Trainor and Commission members welcomed new Student <br />Consultant Alex Schlief to the Commission. Alex is .a <br />senior at Roseville Area High School, National Honor <br />Society Member, and Eagle Scout. He will participate on <br />the Commission through his senior year. <br />
