Mary Jean Turinia Anderson offered to contact
Roseville Area High School to see if they have any committees that might
have interested students. Education in the Community Schools
The Commission discussed ways of supporting human rights educational
needs in the schools. Jill Bergquist suggested that the Commission invite
someone from the school system to a meeting to give a presentation on
. what the human rights educational needs are in the community schools.
John Tyne was suggested as someone who might be able to attend a
meeting, or at least provide names of other individuals to contact in the
area schools who might be interested in attending a meeting in February.
Questions to ask school officials to be discussed at December meeting.
Mike Hermes offered to contact John Tyne. Mike Hermes suggested that
Commission members could attend school assemblies to communicate
human rights issues to students directly.

B. Excellence Award
The Commission discussed the lack of response to the Excellence Award
in the past. Mike Hermes suggested announcing the award on Cable TV.
Mike Hermes also agreed to publish an announcement in the Review and
Focus by January of 1996. The goal is to complete the nominations and
present the award in the Spring of 1996.

C. Grievance Process
Advertise the process on Cable TV during program breaks, as a "Did you
Know?" piece. Mary Jean Turinia Anderson and Jill Bergquist agreed to
work together on a poster describing the grievance process. Mike Trainor
suggested ordering a set of poster from the League.

With regard to the rest of the goals, it was decided that the Commission's "plate
was full," and that the feasibility of taking on additional goals would be discussed
at future meetings.

x. Next Meetina
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 1995, at 7:00 p.m. in
the Roseville City Hall.
