<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1995 <br /> <br />L Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Trainor at 7:05 P.M. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />RollCall <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mike Trainor, Stan Borden, Bob Bancroft, Mike Hermes, Jill <br />Bergquist, and Mary Jean Turinia Anderson <br /> <br />Excused Absences: Larissa Rippley and Thelma McKenzie <br /> <br />Unexcused Absences: Susan Forsyth and Alex Schlief <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Nancy Rys-Nicol, Administrative Intern <br /> <br />m. Aooroval of Minutes <br />Mike Hermes moved, and Bob Bancroft seconded, that the minutes of the January 10, <br />1995, meeting be approved. <br />Roll call: Ayes: all present Nays: none <br /> <br />IV. Human Ril!hts Excellence Award <br />Stan Borden updated the commission regarding the recent tour of Advance Circuits. Mr. <br />Borden distributed copies of Advance Circuit's mission statement. It was the consensus of <br />Stan Borden and Thelma McKenzie to recommend approval of the 1994 Human Rights <br />Excellence Award to Advance Circuits. The basis for their recommendation included the <br />company's commitment to: safety, community service, active recruitment of minorities, <br />equal opportunity employment, affirmative action, and employee recognition. Stan <br />Borden moved, and Mike Hermes seconded, that the 1994 Human Rights Excellence <br />Award be presented to Advance Circuits. <br />Roll call: Ayes: all present Nays: none <br />It was decided that the award will be presented at the February 27, 1995, City Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />V. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />Mike Trainor indicated that there was no report at this time. <br /> <br />VL Cable <br />Mike Hermes reported that the cable television company taped over the interview with Jill <br />Bergquist. Mr. Hermes stated that the segment will be retaped on February 25, 1995, <br />from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M. A volunteer is needed to appear on the show. <br />
