<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MAY 14,1996 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Trainor at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Jill Bergquist, Janet Henquinet, Christine Malark, Thelma <br />McKenzie, Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Members absent: Isaac Afwerke, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Susan Forsyth, <br />Mike Hermes, Margaret Murphy Maertz. <br /> <br />Others present: Carol Keys, Chair, Shoreview Human Rights Commission, <br />Arthur Stillman, Shoreview Human Rights Commission, <br />Marcy Cordes, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Henquinet moved, Bergquist seconded, that the minutes of the April 9, 1996 <br />meeting be approved. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: AU Present. <br /> <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />No report. Trainor met with Acting Chief Tom Alleva who reported that there <br />have been no incidents. <br /> <br />V. Cable TVNideo <br />Malark reported that she had a great deal of difficulty obtaining commitments <br />from RAMS staff members for the "Day in the Life" video project under <br />consideration. Efforts were made to work with Will Chen to get a disabled <br />student interested. Malark stated that school staff does not appear to be <br />interested. <br /> <br />Keys suggested that an individual might be recruited by sending letters to <br />PRIDE or the Courage Center. Malark stated that Forsyth did have a discussion <br />with the disabled news person from WCCO TV, but didn't know what kind of <br />involvement was discussed. Henquinet suggested the head of the learning <br />disabilities office at Metro State. <br />
