<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MAY 12,1998 <br /> <br />1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Jill Bergquist at 7:10pm. <br /> <br />2) Roll Call <br />Members present: Jill Bergquist, Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, Eric Egli, Jan <br />Gordon, Janet Henquinet. Mike Hermes, and Michael Jordan <br /> <br />Members Absent: Issac Afwerke, Thelma McKenzie and Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Others Present: Marcella Houser and Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />3) Approval of Minutes <br />Boily-Salmanpour moved, Hermes seconded that the minutes from the April <br />14 meeting be approved with the following amendments: <br /> <br />Section 6) Cable Program - Human Rights Excellence Award <br />Second paragraph, second sentence should read "It was <br />mentioned that the Maplewood Human Rights Commission had <br />developed an Excellence Award contest and they would be <br />contacted." <br /> <br />Section 7) Youth Appointment to Commission <br />The sentence" Eric Egli will work through the school board to make <br />further contacts" is to be deleted. <br /> <br />The remaining sections are to be renumbered. <br /> <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) Interview with Youth Representative Applicant <br />It was agreed that the Youth Representative would not be a voting member of <br />the commission, but their input would be valued as a source of insight into the <br />community. <br /> <br />Marcella Houser was introduced and asked to explain why she would like to <br />be the youth representative to the Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />5) Cable Program - Promotion/Human Rights Excellence Award <br />Mike Hermes expects to receive a video and new pictures from Advance <br />Circuits that could be incorporated into the proposed promotional video. <br />
