<br />Egli made an alternative motion to score the Socha essay like the others that were <br />pre-read and reorder the winning essays if the Socha essay was graded higher <br />(Because Afwerke needed to leave the meeting early, his vote will be counted and <br />the Commission will be notified by phone, email or mail, as to the order of the <br />essays.), Hermes seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Commission agreed to accept the placement order of the essays after re- <br />grading had occurred. <br /> <br />Winners and their teachers will be notified by mail. The League of MN Human <br />Rights Commissions entry deadline is February 1 and the winners are scheduled to <br />be announced March 1. Because of the personal nature of some of the essays, it <br />was discussed that names and identifying characteristics may need to be redacted if <br />the essays are to be published or read on TV. <br /> <br />6) Cable Program/Promotion <br />Hermes completed two public service announcements to run on cable. The PSA's <br />are scheduled to begin in January. <br /> <br />7) Acceptance of Nominations for Commission ChairNice Chair <br />McKenzie nominated Bergquist to serve as Commission Chair. Egli moved its <br />acceptance, Boily-Salmanpour seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />McKenzie nominated Hermes to serve as Commission Vice Chair. McKenzie moved <br />its acceptance, Gordon seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />8) Other Business/Announcements <br />Gordon passed out a proposed resolution regarding police department's policies on <br />high-speed police pursuits. This issue will be discussed at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Egli notified the Commission of one issue that his wife has seen while serving on the <br />City Center Task Force. He would like to be sure that all residents are treated fairly <br />in the use of community property and that usage fees are not unfairly inflated in <br />order to keep out individuals of any race or economic status. <br /> <br />9) Adjournment <br />Hermes moved, McKenzie seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 8:45pm. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />10)Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 12 at 7:00pm in Roseville City <br />Hall. <br />
