<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 1998 <br /> <br />1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Jill Bergquist at 7: 15pm. <br /> <br />2) Roll Call <br /> <br />Members present: Issac Afwerke, Jill Bergquist, Jan Gordon, Janet <br />Henquinet, Thelma McKenzie, and Mike Hermes. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, Susan Forsyth, Michael Jordan, <br />and Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Others Present: Karen Kurt, Human Resources Director <br /> <br />3) Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Thelma McKenzie moved to approve the minutes from the February meeting. <br />Janet Henquinet seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) Committee Reports <br /> <br />A. Bias/Hate Crimes - No Report <br /> <br />B. Cable TVNideo - No Report <br /> <br />C. Human Rights Excellence Award - No nominations to date <br /> <br />5) Grievance Update - No Report <br /> <br />6) Other Business/Announcement <br /> <br />Thelma McKenzie suggested creating a short video segment for public <br />access cable to promote the activities of the Human Rights Commission, as <br />well as the Human Rights Excellence Award. She also suggested that <br />Advance Circuits be contacted to participate as a previous recipient of the <br />Award. Mike Hermes agreed to contact Advance Circuits. Jill Bergquist <br />suggested that this item is included on the agenda for the next meeting, and <br />that Commission members come prepared with ideas for the next meeting. <br /> <br />Jill Bergquist suggested that discussion regarding peer mediation be <br />postponed until Michael Jordan was present. <br /> <br />Janet Henquinet presented information for a youth appointment to the Board. <br />It was agreed that the Commission would accept up to two youth <br />
