<br />-Alexis noted that responses to the Hate Crimes Bias Network were trickling into the <br />City. Jill noted that the agencies that responded should receive Human Rights <br />informational mailings and community outreach activities. <br /> <br />-Jill requested that additional information be sent to youth participating in the Rose <br />Parade. The staffliaison indicated that that was in progress. Alexis requested a <br />volunteer and Philip agreed to drive the parade vehicle. <br /> <br />-Alexis also reported the Human Rights Commission joined the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission in submitting a grant and ifreceived the Commissions would collaborate <br />on a community event or festival. Grant funds would support the event. She <br />indicated that she would report back at the next Commission meeting. <br /> <br />6) League of Minnesota Human Rights State-wide Essay Contest <br />Thelma shared the date of the event, June 23, 2001 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at <br />the Oval. She will issue a press release on the event as well. Thelma also reminded <br />the Commission tbat as the President of the State League she would host a discussion <br />of Boy Scout policy issues at 10 a.m. on June 23 and invited all commissioners to <br />attend. <br /> <br />7) Berquist Resource List <br />Jill submitted additional materials for the Human Rights Commission Resource List. <br />Jill provided the information to the Commission, as she and her family will relocate <br />to another community and will resign at that time. <br /> <br />In addition Issac noted that he would resign due to military duty. <br /> <br />8) New Business <br />Commission Attendance Policy-Chair Orosz reviewed the new Commission absence <br />policy: <br /> <br />-Excused Absence: On the 3rd excused absence commissioner will <br />recommit to serve on the Commission <br />On the 4th excused absence the Chair will notify the <br />City Council <br />-Unexcused Absence: After the 2nd unexcused absence the Chair will <br />notify the City Council <br />Televise Commission Meetings-Chair Orosz asked for Commission feedback on <br />regularly televising meetings. Thelma motioned and Jill seconded a motion not to <br />televise regular Commission meetings. However, the Commission agreed to evaluate <br />the policy when conducting community education programs. <br /> <br />Intake Form of 4/01-Alexis thanked Stephen Smith for processing the intake form <br />and convened Smith's recommendation in an earlier discussion that he could not find <br />any basis to continue any further action to review the claim submitted by a resident <br />from St. Paul. <br />
